Known as one of the most elegant and seductive wines in the world, Côte Rôtie is famous for its complex aromatics. Aromas of bacon fat, kirsch, minerals, pepper and spice are all part of Côte Rôtie's personality, particularly once it has been aged. The grape is Syrah often with a splash of Viognier for colour and aromatics, like neighbouring Hermitage, the production is tiny off only 200 hectares.

"This outstanding 100% syrah comes from both Cote Brune (70%) and Cote Blonde (30%). The bouquet is seductive and complex, exhibiting spiced cherry, dark plum, vanilla, hazelnut and truffle characters, leading to a delectably spicy and savoury palate that also offers sweet berry flavours. It is powerful yet elegant, and delivers layers of engaging characters, backed by loads of polished tannins. A thought-provoking wine. At its best: now to 2023." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

"Dark purple. Strong aromas of black pepper and lifted gloss. Really very seductive, if a little sweeter than the purest paradigm. Modern style, well done, without too much extraction. Dry finish. Flattering. Very well made. But not exactly artisanal. A hint of oak here. Clean, fresh finish."

2013 vintage notes:

"Very promising reds which may well have excellent longevity. Despite a slow start and problems with mildew in June, the 2013 growing season came good with fine warm days and cool nights throughout the summer. Rain prompted a speedy harvest (one of the latest ever)."
